  Help >After the item ends

All items listed on eJay, whether in an online store or in a quick-sales format will have time limits. Once the limit has passed, the item is deemed to have "ended", and no further bids can be placed. In the case of fixed-price sale items, no person may purchase the item using InstantBuy.

There are two scenarios when an item ends:
  1. The item has a winning bidder or InstantBuyer, or
  2. The item did not have a buyer.

Item was won or bought by a bidder or buyer
Your item will have a buyer when a member bidded on (and won) or used InstantBuy to purchase your item. Once this has occurred, you are obliged to sell the item to the buyer. This applies to auction-format listings, regardless of the price it was sold for.

The item remains unsold
In many cases, your item will remain unsold because no one bidded (or used InstantBuy if applicable). Our fee structure does not mandate any charges or fees for unsold items, so you may re-list the item for another attempt at selling it.

Item post-end date guidelines
After an item ends, a timeline follows:
Time Period: Action to be taken / Guideline
0-7 days: Buyer should finalise payment
1-14 days: Seller should post the item, deliver it to buyer, or have arranged for buyer to pick it up
10-30 days: Disputes, if any, must be filed during this period
up to 60 days: feedback can be left during this period
up to 90 days: Item remains available online for viewing only sellers may relist unsold items or items that have not completed a transaction (dispute)
Past 90 days: Items are removed from the site. No further action can be taken.
