Restriction on new members
As part of our commitment on preventing fraud, we have several policies in place for all new members.
Unverified Accounts
Sellers who have not had their account verified may not sell an item for over $50. This applies to both auction format and fixed-price (InstantBuy) format sales. The exception is if that member has a feedback rating of at least 10, with no negative feedback comments.
Buyers who have not verified their account may not bid more than $50 (in online auctions), nor may they use InstantBuy to purchase items in excess of $100, unless that member has a feedback rating of at least 10, with no negative feedback comments.
Furthermore, sellers have an option of preventing any non-verified member from bidding or buying any of their items at all.
Account Verification Methods
You can have your account verified in a number of ways, using two methods: Address verification, and Phone Verification.

Account Verification Methods
You can have your account verified in a number of ways, using two methods: Address verification, and Phone Verification.
- Address-verified accounts are member accounts which have a confirmed, true street/road address.
- Phone-verified accounts are member accounts which have a confirmed fixed telephone number.
How to get your account verified
- Option 1: Attend the CAC office
Bring personal identification, such as your driver's license, bank statements, bills, etc. Items which contain your name and address are sufficient. Having sighted your identification, the staff at CAC will then mark your Ejay user account as 'address verified'. - Option 2: Mail confirmation
Log onto your account. Under 'My Ejay', go to 'Account Details' and choose 'Request Account verification (Postal)'. Follow the prompts. Our staff will then post a unique confirmation code to you. Once you've entered your verification code, your account will become 'address verified'. Please note that P.O. Boxes cannot be used. - Option 3: Existing CAC Customer
If you're a long-time buyer or vendor at Caulfield Auction Centre, you can supply your bidding or vendor number. At the discretion of our staff, your account will be marked as address verified. You may be contacted by phone prior to this happening. - Option 4: Phone verification
Supply your home phone number. Request that you be called. Our staff will attempt to contact you up to 3 times during the course of the day. If you are able to answer the phone, you will be provided with a unique confirmation code. Once the code has been entered, your account will be 'Phone verified'. If we are unsuccessful in contacting you, we will not call again, and you will need to re-request phone verification if you still want to have your account phone verified. Note that only fixed-line numbers can be used. Mobile, 1300, 1800 and 19 numbers are not acceptable for phone verification purposes.
